    Student Health and Wellness (SHaW) Graduate Student Position

     

    Position Summary:  The department of Student Health and Wellness has a vision to cultivate optimal health and lifelong well-being for every student at the University of Connecticut. Under the general supervision of the Director of Health Information Management and in collaboration with SHaW staff and Eastern Highlands Health District (EHHD), the graduate student will be responsible for COVID-19 contact tracing for the UConn Storrs campus students. This position may also require special projects and other duties as assigned. This is a part time position, which requires a minimum of eight hours a week; with a possibility of up to twenty hours maximum when the demand requires.  

     

    The Graduate Student (GS) Position is privy to highly personal and confidential student information. The GS will be expected to hold all confidential information in trust and strict confidence and agree that it shall be used only for the purposes required to fulfill employment obligations, and shall not be used for any other purpose, or disclosed to any third party. The GS is not allowed to discuss any student information with any other students nor with staff who are not involved in the direct care of the students.  A confidentiality statement is required to be signed by the GS.

     

     

    Appointment Type & Schedule: This is a fall 2020 semester position with the possibility of extending into the spring 2021 semester. The position is contingent on the universities plan for the students and if the university closes prior to the end of the semester. The Graduate Student position requires the employee to work two four-hour blocks per week, with the possibility of working up to 20 hours per week.  Hours must be worked Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on site at the Hilda May Williams Building.  The appointment begins August 10, 2020.


    Position Responsibilities:

    Data mining, building excel spreadsheets, maintain and manage project logs, perform in-depth analysis of data collection and report details, and trend analysis

     

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year university or college
    • Currently enrolled in a graduate program at UConn in computer science, statistics, economics, data analytics, or related field
    • Works well as part of a team, e.g. respects others’ opinions, shares workload as appropriate, and demonstrates flexibility
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality consistent with applicable laws and regulations
    • Ability to organize and prioritize work, exercise good judgment, complete tasks in a timely manner, and work autonomously
    • Knowledge of the principles of analysis, design and decision support
    • Logical, analytical, problem solving and interpretive skills
    • Proficient in MS-Office
    • Accuracy and attention to detail
    • Identifying patterns and trends

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in data models and reporting
    • Ability to analyze large datasets

     

    Compensation: The position will pay the Graduate Student twenty dollars an hour for each hour worked.
