AHIMSA / Nonviolence Seminar: IMAGINE A WORLD WITHOUT HATE: Reaching 21st Century Educators and Students with Lessons of the Holocaust – on Wednesday, September 25 at 4:30 pm in the Mansfield Room of the Nathan Hale Inn.
Our keynote speaker is Marji Lipshez-Shapiro, education director of CT Anti-Defamation League, who will examine spiritual and cultural resistance to genocide and bring to bear over 20 years experience in the area of anti-bias training; most recently, she created the Names Can Really Hurt Us anti-bullying campaign that has reached over 100,000 CT high school students. Our program will be moderated by UConn associate professor and director of the Institute, Cathy Schlund-Vials, author of War, Genocide and Justice: Cambodian American Memory Work.
The lecture/dialogue is open to the public. Co-sponsored by the Greater Hartford Jain Center, our program welcomes all voices, and all traditions are honored and respected.
