Artist Talk: Laurie Sloan

Laurie Sloan, an Associate Professor of Art at the University of Connecticut in the Department of Art and Art History, will talk about her work. 
Her work reflects a fascination with the mysterious structures and events of the natural world and the uncertainties of life science research.  Her work stems from a range of sources including scientific illustration and cartoons.
Sloan received her M.F.A. degree from Tyler School of Art, Philadelphia, PA and Rome, Italy and her B.F.A. degree from Miami University, Oxford, OH. Sloan’s artwork has been exhibited widely in the United States and abroad, and she has won several grants and honors including a Connecticut Commission on the Arts Individual Artist fellowship and several juried exhibition awards.
