  • 2/19 Summer in the South of France - Info Meeting Today

Faculty and staff are warmly invited to spread the word to students about UConn's program in the South of France this summer.

The UConn summer program in Toulouse is open to all undergraduates. Known as the "pink city" (la ville rose), Toulouse is a sunny, safe and friendly student city in the south of France. The city is home to French engineering (the Airbus and the Ariane rocket are built here) as well as a vibrant cafe culture and nightlife. It is situated close to spectacular medieval sites such as the walled city of Carcassone and the Cathar castles, not to mention the mountains of the Pyrenees and the beaches of the Mediterranean. Students will have a chance to explore all of these and more during the program - and will also spend a long weekend in Paris!

The program is open to all undergraduate students, whatever their level of French and whatever their major.

An information meeting will take place today - Monday 19th February - at 5pm in Oak Hall 236. Anyone who is interested but can't make it to the meeting should contact sarah.wood@uconn.edu or colleen.millerick@uconn.edu.

Participants in the Toulouse program will:

    - Spend June exploring the sunny and warm South of France

    - Earn between 6 and 8 course credits by studying with UConn professors

    - Learn French from scratch in a month or brush up existing skills

    - Stay with a French family, immersing themselves in both language and culture.

As if that were not reason enough: learning a foreign language can offer enormous intellectual and professional advantages to students. French is spoken by over 220 million people across five continents, and opens doors to opportunities in Canada, Switzerland, Belgium, the Caribbean and across the continent of Africa as well as in France.
