Site Design for the Obama Presidential Library

UConn Landscape Architecture alum Joseph Bivona is the project manager and lead designer representing Michael Van Valkenburg Associates on site design and landscape architecture for the Obama Presidential Library, currently in the planning stages. The site for the project is set within South Chicago’s historic Jackson Park, built for the World’s Columbian Exposition of 1893. Joe will discuss the planning and design process, collaborative work with other disciplines, the rich history and complex social context of the site, the challenges of working on a vey high profile project, and key elements and technical aspects of the site design.
