Sent on behalf of Jeremy Teitelbaum, Ph.D., Professor of Mathematics and Interim Provost
As you know, Professor Anne D’Alleva was appointed Dean of the School of Fine Arts in July 2015 for an initial two-year term. During the spring 2017 semester, I sought input from the School’s department heads, directors, faculty and staff regarding Dr. D’Alleva’s performance with a view towards extending her term. Having heard uniformly positive support for Dr. D’Alleva’s leadership and consistent praise for her success in strengthening the School’s programming and reputation, I am delighted to inform you that I have offered, and Dr. D’Alleva has accepted, an extension of her term as Dean for another two years.
Dr. D’Alleva earned her undergraduate degree in Art History from Harvard University and her Ph.D. in Art History from Columbia University. Dr. D’Alleva’s research interests include the arts of eighteenth and nineteenth-century Tahiti and the Society Islands, examining the ways that gender and the visual arts shaped interactions between Society Islanders and explorers, missionaries, and colonizers. Before becoming Dean, Dr. D’Alleva served as Department Head in Art & Art History and as an Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the School of Fine Arts.
Please join me in congratulating Dean D’Alleva on her continuing appointment. I look forward to working with her in the future.
