Dear UConn faculty and staff,
I am writing today to share an exciting opportunity that will take place on the UConn campus this month. The UConn Pre-Law Center is pleased to announce that the Connecticut Appellate Court will be sitting on campus during the morning of Tuesday, March 21 in Rome Ballroom. The two real cases that will be featured are as follows:
Case 1: Eleones Bueno v. Commissioner of Correction (Docket Number AC 38662)
Case 2: James M. Procaccini, Administrator v. Lawrence & Memorial Hospital (Docket Number AC 38380)
Please see the event details at http://calendar.uconn.edu/event/53085/2017-03-21. In addition, particular case information, including the case briefs, may be downloaded from the State of CT Judicial Branch site at http://appellateinquiry.jud.ct.gov/AppealNoInq.aspx by entering the docket numbers for each case (listed above) in the search function.
Please note that visitors are invited to attend either one or both of the cases depending on whichever timeframe works best with their schedule. For each case, attorneys on both sides will have 20 minutes to present oral arguments; these will be followed by 20 minutes of audience time to ask questions. As all guests will have to pass through security upon entry to the courtroom, we also ask that they do not bring backpacks, bulky belongings, and any food/beverages to expedite the process.
We sincerely hope that you will consider this wonderful experiential opportunity to engage yourself in a real-world legal environment. Questions may directed towards myself at krista.rogers@uconn.edu, or to Diane Whitney, JD, UConn’s Pre-Law Advisor, at diane.whitney@uconn.edu.
Sincerely,
Krista Rogers
