We are Orlando Solidarity Event Tuesday, October 4, 2016 11 am-1 pm 330 & 331 Student Union Ballroom
We invite UConn campus members to a solidarity event to offer a space of unity and healing in light of the massacre at the Pulse Gay Night club. A diverse group of people were killed (49 people) and harmed (53 people), many from the LGBTQIA+ and/or Latinx communities. There will be a brief program at 11 am for reflection and to call the name of the victims. Refreshments will be served. The event will be in the Student Union Ballroom (rooms 330 & 331). Our goal is to encourage healing, solidarity, social justice action, and unity within the Husky Nation by engaging in open, honest dialogue focused on respecting one another's differences. This event is hosted by both the Puerto Rican/Latin American Cultural Center & Rainbow Center, with additional sponsorship from Student Activities, the Office for Diversity & Inclusion, the Asian American Cultural Center, the Women’s Center and the African American Cultural Center.
