It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of one of our students.
Nataliya Plesha-Tereshchenko a PhD student in Agricultural and Resource Economics from Storrs-Mansfield, died Thursday, July 21, 2016. Nataliya was an instructor in the Agriculture Department and was also a Visiting Faculty Professor of Economics at Eastern Connecticut State University. She was born in the Ukraine. Nataliya graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Lviv Institute of Forestry and Wood Technology. She continued her studies, receiving her a PhD from the Ukraine State University. She came to the United States in 2000 as a Fulbright Scholar at Fairfield University. She has earned advanced degrees from Yale University, the University of Idaho and the University of Connecticut. She leaves her husband, Yaroslav Tereschenko and their son Dariy, both of Storrs-Mansfield.
A mass of Christian burial will be held July 30that 11:00am at St. Bernard Church in Vernon Rockville with a burial following at St. Bernard Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to: www.gofundme.com/helpyareksfamily

Rigo Lopez will be working with interested students and faculty in planning a UConn campus memorial service for Nataliya. Planning will begin this fall.
Our Counseling and Mental Health Services (CMHS) is available to provide support to the community at this time of loss. CMHS office hours are 8:30 -4:30 M-F and they are located on Arjona 4th floor. Students are encouraged to either walk in during office hours or to please call to schedule an appointment.
In addition to the sadness of this immediate incident, tragedy may trigger our own personal histories of loss and grief. Staff and faculty in need of support for themselves are encouraged to seek the support of UConn's Employee Assistance Program.
