It is with great pleasure that I share with you that Dr. Suzanne Onorato will be joining UConn as the Executive Director of Student Health Services. In this role Suzanne will provide direct leadership over the Departments of Student Health, Counseling and Mental Health, and the Wellness and Prevention. Suzanne will begin at UConn on June 24.
Throughout her career she has demonstrated exceptional and innovative leadership. Her strengths include developing and leading strategic visioning and business planning in her current role as Executive Director of Cardiovascular Service Line at St Francis Hospital and Medical Center. Suzanne has also served as the Director of the Bristol Hospital Wellness Center and served many years at the Community Health Program at Tufts University.
I reviewed the feedback from over 80 responses on the candidates before making this decision. Those responses were very affirming, confirming that Suzanne’s knowledge of the field and demonstrated leadership experience will be a true asset to UConn. This is an important time for Student Health at UConn and I am confident that Suzanne’s experience will allow us to effectively integrate and enhance our care for students. I am equally pleased that Suzanne will be closely involved in the design process for our new student health facility.
Thank you for your participation in this process. I am very grateful to the search committee and the leadership provided by David Ouimette as Chair. I hope you will all join me in welcoming Suzanne to UConn in June.
Best,
Eleanor JB Daugherty
Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students
