HuskyVision, UConn’s cable television service, will be converting administrative and academic buildings this week from analog to digital service. Check the Transition Schedule to find out when your building is upgrading.
-------------------
After the upgrade, HuskyVision will have improved picture and sound quality, all high-definition (HD), digital programming, and even more channels. To use this enhanced service, you will need to:
- Make sure your television is digital-ready.
To be compatible with UConn’s cable service after the switch, televisions must have a QAM tuner. Most televisions manufactured after 2007 have a QAM tuner, but UITS recommends checking. For a general compatibility reference, visit tv.uconn.edu/faqs/.
- Perform a channel scan
Once a building has been converted, television service will appear to have been lost until a channel scan is performed. Although the process may vary by television, the standard steps are to:
- Press the “Power” button to turn on the TV
- Press the “Menu” Button
- Select “Set-Up”
- Select “Antenna” and then “Cable”
- Select “Auto Program/Auto Tune/Channel scan” then “OK.”
Please note: It can take up to 30 minutes to perform the scan.
UITS is using a building-by-building approach to convert UConn apartments, residence halls, and administrative buildings. The transition schedule is available at http://tv.uconn.edu/schedule/, and you can check the progress of a building’s conversion at IT Status.
