EXPLORING EXPERTISE (http://exp2.uconn.edu/speakers/is a conference at the University of Connecticut for students in grades 8-12 and their parents/guardians. It will be held on May 14 from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM (4:30 if you choose to take a campus tour). We invite you to spend a day learning about UCONN and some of the exciting programs and majors it offers. Start thinking about potential career directions you might pursue in your area of interest and talent. Experts in a wide variety of disciplines from Engineering to Archaeology to Marine Sciences will share their passion for their subjects and talk about their educational and career paths. Students can attend up to three sessions and will have the opportunity to meet UCONN faculty, learn about their profession and research and creative projects, and ask plenty of questions.
Parent/guardian sessions will cover topics such as the admissions process, financial aid resources, promoting student motivation and achievement and talent development opportunities, and the Honors program which offers excellent opportunities for highly motivated students.
The following sessions are open to both students and parents/guardians: college major selection, Pre-Med, Pre-Law, and UCONN’s Community Outreach program.
$99 per parent/student pair; additional attendees are welcome at an additional $30 fee. All prices include conference attendance and lunch.
Registration opens March 1, 2016 and closes April 29, 2016.
