University of Connecticut students and employees who sustained losses or damages from Hurricane Sandy are being urged to register for federal disaster assistance before the Dec. 31 deadline.
The Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) is encouraging people to register even if they have insurance, filed a flood insurance claim or have registered with another government agency.
The University of Connecticut’s campuses were largely unscathed by Hurricane Sandy when it struck in late October, but many students and their families are still coping with losses they sustained from the storm.
To register for FEMA disaster assistance, visit www.DisasterAssistance.gov or call 800-621-3362.
The UConn Office of Student Services and Advocacy (http://www.ossa.uconn.edu/) has a knowledgeable and compassionate staff ready to help students get support and resources they need when they are dealing with emergencies.
