A memorial service will be held for Sam Witryol, who passed away on August 3, 2015. Sam joined the faculty of the Department of Psychology in 1949. He initiated the Ph.D. program in Child and Developmental Psychology in 1959 and was head of that program for more than 30 years. He retired in 1992. Sometimes irascible but always with a funny story to tell, Sam will be remembered as a tireless advocate for experimental research on children’s motivation and as a strong supporter of the university.
