The One Card Office will no longer issue UConn IDs with proximity chips, effective January 2028. An inventory of all active proximity readers is being created.
UConn is working to upgrade its door access systems by replacing legacy proximity card readers with encrypted HID Signo readers. This initiative strengthens campus security, improves operational efficiency, and aligns our infrastructure with modern access control standards, supporting mobile credentials.
If your department has doors with proximity readers, please contact UConnDoorReaders@uconn.edu by November 15, 2026, and include:
- The model of the reader or a photo of the reader (if you are unsure of the model)
- Its building and door location
- The door system it connects to (e.g., Genetec, Millennium or Locknetics)
- Your contact information
This effort helps enhance campus security and streamline future access technology. Questions? Reach out to UConnDoorReaders@uconn.edu.
