Information Literacy Basics: Ready-to-Use Support for Building Foundational Student Research Skills
How can we help students develop the information literacy skills they need to navigate increasingly complex information environments and research questions? Information Literacy Basics is a new self-paced Blackboard course designed by the UConn Library to support undergraduate students as they develop research questions, create search strategies, discover and evaluate information, and make informed choices throughout the research process.
In this workshop, participants will explore the Information Literacy Basics course and consider ways to use its modular content to support information literacy instruction in their own courses. We’ll look at how individual modules and activities can be incorporated into existing courses and assignments, with particular attention to supporting the Information, Digital, and Media Literacy competency in UConn’s Common Curriculum.
