The UConn Innovation Zone (IZone) aims to inspire creative and innovative thinking while providing a hands-on learning environment that encourages innovative design, collaboration, problem-solving, and entrepreneurship. Within our 2 Makerspaces and Recording & Editing Center (REC), the IZone offers a variety of engagement opporunties that can be customized to supplement the curriculum of any course:
Makerspaces:
- Incorporate physical making, design, and storytelling into the learning experience through use of 3D Printing, Woodworking, Textiles, Arts & Crafts, Laser Engraving, etc.
- Integrate technology into the experience through use of electronics, robotics, and game theory & design
Recording & Editing Center (REC):
- Focus on digital making and storytelling through podcasting & audio recording, photography, and videography
We invite faculty and staff to join us for our Open House on Thursday, September 24th from 11:30am-1:30pm. Come tour our spaces located in Werth Residence Tower, learn about our offerings, and discuss ways that we can support your curriculum.
