Dear UConn/UConn Health Community,
You are invited to participate in a research study titled “The Role of Artistic Thinking in Driving Scientific Innovation: A Historical and Modern Perspective” (IRB #27X-025-2), conducted by Noah S. Pereira and Dr. Ali Tamayol in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at UConn Health.
This exploratory study examines how engagement with the arts relates to scientific thinking, professional experiences, and innovation, as well as how science and technology may influence artistic engagement. Individuals are eligible to participate if they are 18 years of age or older and are currently or were previously involved in a STEM or STEM-related field, including health and medical fields. Prior or current involvement in the arts is not required to participate. Participation consists of completing a one-time anonymous online survey lasting approximately 8–12 minutes. Participation is voluntary, questions may be skipped, and you may stop the survey at any time.
Following completion of the survey, participants will have the option to enter a separate raffle in which 8 participants will each receive a $50 Amazon digital gift card. Raffle entry is optional. Email addresses submitted for the raffle will be collected separately from survey responses and will not be linked to research data.

There is no anticipated direct benefit from participating. Your responses may contribute to a better understanding of the relationship between artistic engagement and contemporary scientific practice.
