Dr. Paroma Chakravarty, PhD
Distinguished Scientist, Genetech, San Francisco, CA
Dr. Paroma Chakravarty is a Distinguished Scientist at Genentech in South San Francisco, California, where she is a leader in small-molecule pharmaceutics and solid-state pharmaceutical sciences. She earned her B.Pharm. from Jadavpur University, an M.S. in Industrial/Physical Pharmacy from The University of Toledo, and a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
Dr. Chakravarty has more than 15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, specializing in solid-form selection, polymorphism, crystallization, and materials characterization of drug candidates. Her work has been instrumental in advancing small-molecule medicines from discovery through development by identifying robust and manufacturable solid forms suitable for clinical and commercial use.
An internationally recognized expert in pharmaceutical materials science, Dr. Chakravarty has authored numerous scientific publications, patents, and book chapters. She has also served in leadership roles with the Center for Pharmaceutical Processing Research (CPPR), helping to strengthen industry-academic collaborations in pharmaceutical development.
