This is friendly reminder for faculty that the deadline to submit a job opportunity for the Office of Undergraduate Research’s Work-Study Research Assistant Program (WSRAP) is midnight on Monday, August 10th. This program offers students who have a 2026-27 Federal Work-Study award the opportunity to work as research assistants, which helps these students build research skills, explore their academic interests, and forge connections with UConn faculty. The program offers faculty the opportunity to hire an undergraduate research assistant for the academic year at no cost.
Full program details, job description templates, and the WSRAP submission form are available on the faculty-facing program webpage and in the WSRAP Program Overview document. Students hired through this program may earn up to the amount of their federal work-study award. For most students, this would allow for an average of 6 hours/week over the course of both semesters. Faculty interested in hiring a student should take a few minutes to review the Guidelines for Faculty Posting a Research Assistant Position prior to submitting a job description.
Many work-study students are actively seeking a work-study position prior to the start of the fall semester so please submit your position as soon as possible. OUR needs time to submit the job to 12Twenty for approval.
