UConn Connects is a mentorship program coordinated by the Academic Achievement Center with a 30-year history of supporting students on academic notice. Students voluntarily enroll in the program and meet with mentors once a week for the duration of the semester for encouragement, support, connection to campus resources and to stay accountable to their goals.
Students on academic notice report a noted difference in their academics as a result of having a dedicated mentor on campus to discuss concerns, strategize based on what comes up throughout the semester, and gaining perspective on their academic journey. In the spring 2026 semester, 88% of students who actively participated in the Connects program were retained at UConn to continue with their degrees.
