Below, please find information about an upcoming opportunity for faculty to learn more about IRB practices and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). Beyond bringing a scholarly focus to teaching and learning and satisfying academic curiosity, SoTL offers research opportunities accessible to those with substantial teaching responsibilities and minimizing financial constraints.
IRB Essentials for Educational Research and SoTL
This virtual session with Joan Levine, Education & QA/QI Specialist from the Office of the Vice President for Research, will provide faculty with practical guidance on conducting educational research, mentoring graduate student projects, and Scholarship of Teaching and Learning projects. It will explore exemption categories, submission timelines, and common questions about when classroom data collection requires IRB review. Attendees will gain a clearer understanding of the research approval process and have the opportunity to ask questions about their own projects.
