  • 5/13 W (Writing-Intensive) Teaching Orientation

A workshop on designing and teaching writing-intensive (W) courses will be offered on Wednesday, May 13, 1-3pm, in the Writing Center Conference Room (Storrs Campus, Babbidge Library, Level 2). This is an in-person session. For more details and to register, visit this page: https://writingcenter.uconn.edu/w-teaching-orientation/

After reviewing university-wide expectations for W courses, we'll focus on pragmatic strategies for making writing-intensive courses across the disciplines more engaging, effective, and inclusive. We'll also discuss generative AI, a range of ways to grade and respond to writing, a pilot progam that the Writing Center is offering to support your students, and whatever topics you wish to bring up.

All faculty and staff who are teaching any course that involves writing are invited. **This orientation is required for graduate students who teach or assist with a W course or lab.**

The next W Teaching Orientations will be in August 2026, during the week before fall classes begin. For dates and details, see https://writingcenter.uconn.edu/w-teaching-orientation/
