UConn Branding

  • The Write Stuff: UConn's Editorial Guidelines

As writers, we try to be clear and consistent in our communications. Still, there are lots of formatting and grammar rules to remember. (Too many.)

How do we identify current students or alumni in stories? Should we spell out numbers? Why does Ph.D. have periods while MBA does not? When is it okay to write UCONN?**

The answers to these questions and many others can be found in the Editorial Guidelines on the Brand website.

Think of the guidelines as an annex for your brain. Bookmark them now so you can dedicate the space to important things like the lyrics to “Hamilton” or your NetID password.

If you have questions that aren’t answered in the Editorial Guidelines, email University Communications at communications@uconn.edu.

** We’ll save you the click. Please don’t ever write “UCONN” except maybe on a T-shirt.
