Experiental learning opportunity: Encourage students to join Levo International and the ARE Club as we look to ethically and effectively fight food insecurity!
The ARE club is hosting a case competition open to all UConn students with a first place prize of $250. The case study is based off of Levo International, a nonprofit in the North End of Hartford that uses hydroponics, or soil-free farming, in an urban setting to grow fresh produce for the local community. Teams of 2-4 will compete via a 10 minute presentation in front of judges, including a representative from Levo who will potentially take students input into account to improve their operations, on April 22nd at 6pm. Teams must register by April 17th at 11:59pm. Students can register as a team or individually to be paired with one.
Levo International is looking to incease engagement and integration with the North End community. Students have the opportunity to learn about the histroy behind this systemic disparity in food access, as well as the harmful narratives that overlook valuable community assets, initiatives, and much of the time, the people themselves.
Company financials will be shared with teams on registration.
