Summer Mentor/Mentee Training for Grads and Postdocs
Grad students and post-docs are often in the squishy middle of a mentoring sandwich, mentoring less experienced students but still needing mentorship from their advisors.
Come learn how to be more effective as both a mentor AND mentee through an innovative application of the Center for the Improvement of Mentored Experience’s (CIMER) evidence-backed mentor and mentee training curricula from Rachel Prunier, Ph.D. and Andi Kent, Ph.D., trained CIMER trainers and members of UConn’s Center for Excellence in Teaching & Learning (CETL).
We are offering three cohorts this summer – with each cohort meeting once a week for 8 weeks.
- Cohort 1 will meet Tuesdays from May 26 to July 14 from 2-3:30 pm. Cohort 1 is in-person and in Storrs.
- Cohort 2 will meet Wednesdays from May 27 to July 15 from 12-1:30 pm. Cohort 2 is virtual and will meet synchronously.
- Cohort 3 will meet Tuesdays from June 23 to August 11 from 10-11:30 am. Cohort 3 is in-person and will be held at either UConn Storrs or UConn Hartford.
Upon completing at least 6 of the 8 sessions, you will receive a certificate certifying your completion of the CIMER Entering Mentoring training (looks great on a CV!).
Each cohort is limited to 20 participants. Priority will go to those mentoring undergraduates in summer 2026; otherwise, registration is on a first come, first served basis.
If you are interested in joining this dynamic and engaging learning community, please fill out the form by Friday, May 1.
If you have any questions about this training, please email Rachel Prunier – rachel.prunier@uconn.edu – or Andi Kent – andi.kent@uconn.edu
