  • 4/20-28 High Proposal Volume Anticipated

Following a recent short‑notice limited submission competition, UConn has selected an unprecedented number of project teams to move forward with applications to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Genesis Mission Funding Opportunity Announcement, due April 28. As a result, SPS anticipates a significantly elevated volume of proposal activity in the weeks leading up to this deadline.

To help manage review capacity and ensure timely proposal processing, those staff assisting with non‑UConn led Genesis submissions are asked to notify Tanja DeMauro (tanja.demauro@uconn.edu) as soon as possible. This information will assist SPS in coordinating workload and planning reviews across the submission period.

Please plan carefully for proposal submissions with sponsor deadlines during the weeks of April 20, April 27, and May 4, and be especially mindful of UConn’s five‑business‑day submission policy, which will remain in effect during this timeframe.

To enable university proposal development staff and SPS Pre‑Award Services to provide the most complete and timely support possible, we ask that project teams working on a proposal for submission without a firm sponsor deadline to consider strategically deferring the submission until after April 28, where feasible.

Thank you for your partnership and flexibility as we work together to support UConn’s research enterprise during this period of exceptionally high proposal volume.
