Dear Colleagues,
International students will arrive at the Storrs campus to move into University housing on Friday, August 21, 2026, and the CISS is looking for Faculty, Staff and Current UConn Students to help us welcome our new international students to campus. You can sign up to help with international student move-in here: 2026 International Student Move-In and Welcome Program Volunteer Sign Up
We need to fill the following roles:
Airport Shuttle Assistants (JFK and BOS). You will work with a UConn Global staff member to guide students to the shuttle bus at the airport and help with arrival to UConn. Buses will leave UConn Storrs at 8:00 AM and return to campus around 4:00 PM. This is a great way to support students during the arrival stage by helping them find the bus, checking them into the UConn shuttle bus and answering questions along the way. It’ll be a long but very rewarding day! Friday, August 21, 2026.
Information Tent Staff at key locations: You will greet students and families, answer important questions, and help them find their way on campus. Hours: shifts of 2-4 hours during the 11:00 AM-8:00 PM time frame on Friday, August 21, 2026.
Move In Assistants help students get from the check in point at Charter Oak Apartments to their residence halls. You will be paired with a new student or pair of new students to ride the bus to their assigned campus housing. You are not expected to carry student luggage but may need to assist watching bags as students are moving in or by encouraging students to work together to help each other manage luggage. The main purpose is to help the student find their Residence Hall, ensure they can enter the building and their room and to answer questions along the way.
Hours: shifts of 2-4 hours during the 11:00 AM-8:00 PM time frame on Friday, August 21, 2026.
Please share this message with other faculty, staff or current graduate and undergraduate students in your departments.
Thank you for your support.
