Bio:
Dr. Misti Levy Zamora is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Health Sciences and Co-Director of the Indoor Air Quality Initiative at UConn Health. Her research investigates how modifiable factors, such as commute mode, exercise habits, and home address, influence personal exposures to ambient and indoor pollutants. Her current work centers on Traffic-Related Air Pollution (TRAP), a complex mixture of pollutants that varies spatially and temporally in urban environments. Because exposures often exhibit substantial variability between individuals based on personal choices, Dr. Zamora focuses on identifying effective ways individuals can mitigate their own risk. She utilizes novel, low-cost technologies to improve exposure estimates and inform realistic decision-making. She will be presenting results from her NIEHS-funded study, “Effects of Transportation Choices on Commuter Health (ETCH),” which examines the impacts of transportation choices on personal exposure and acute health outcomes.
