The March 2026 Career Progression application window is now open and will close on Tuesday, March 31st.
Please review the full list of Career Progression application eligibility requirements on the Career Progression website, under the “Eligibility” section.
IMPORTANT REMINDERS FOR THIS APPLICATION PERIOD:
For Employees
- Employees are encouraged to meet with their supervisor to discuss progress toward the established competencies outlined in their approved Career Progression Framework.
- Submit your Career Progression Application Form by March 31st.
- The application must exactly MATCH the competencies listed on the employee’s Framework.
- Applications that do not match the competencies on the approved Framework will be returned and may be denied.
- For assistance identifying the appropriate individual to input into the Career Progression Financial Approver (Management Employee) on the Kuali form, please visit: CP Financial Approvers.
For Supervisors
- Supervisors should regularly engage in conversations with their staff regarding progress through the established competencies stated in their respective Career Progression Frameworks.
- Supervisors should continue working with their HR Associate to provide Job Specifications or Career Progression Frameworks.
- Supervisors will review employee applications and provide a disposition through the Kuali Build workflow.
- Supervisors must evaluate and determine if an employee has successfully demonstrated achievement of all competencies for that rank, as defined by the Framework.
ANTICIPATED TIMELINES:
- Friday, February 27: Career Progression Application Form opens in Kuali.
- Tuesday, March 31: Career Progression Application Form closes (no new submissions after this date).
- Tuesday, April 7: Any forms in progress with employees must be submitted by the end of the day.
- Tuesday, April 14: Supervisors complete their review/approval.
- Tuesday, April 21: Org Head and Manager Outside any Bargaining Unit complete their review/approval.
- Wednesday, May 12: Human Resources completes review.
- Week of May 18th or May 25th: Human Resources will communicate the outcomes of the Career Progression applications to employees and their supervisors.
FUNDING:
As announced on February 4th, salary increases tied to career progression will not be approved for the March 2026 period due to current fiscal constraints. Eligible employees are still encouraged to apply. Supervisors and managers will review and evaluate all applications, and any that meet the advancement criteria will be held for processing in the September 2026 or subsequent application period. These applications will not need to be resubmitted.
