    Submit Your Midterm Grades

    1.    Mid-Semester Grade Rosters Are Now Available

University Senate By-Laws require that instructors of 1000 and 2000-level courses must submit midterm grades for all students during the mid-semester grading period which spans the sixth through eighth week of the semester (Monday, February 23 – Friday, March 13, 2026). Instructors of all other undergraduate and graduate courses are highly encouraged to submit mid-semester grades.

Midterm grades must be submitted through the Student Administration system, and directions for doing so can be found on the Registrar’s website.

Submission of midterm grades plays an important role in student success as outlined by the following reasons:

    • Students will be prompted to connect with instructors and academic support resources to discuss their status in the course as well as strategies for success.
    • When students are empowered early to seek support for academic success, they are less likely to withdraw from or fail the course, thus decreasing the need to repeat the course.  This results in positive degree progression, and ultimately, less demand on enrollments in the course. This also contributes to a more positive perception of the course by students because of their ability to succeed in it.
    • If academic advisors and other student support offices are aware of a student’s academic progress, they can engage in both congratulatory and educative/corrective forms of outreach to students.
    • Students will be better equipped to make informed academic decisions, and if necessary, can have a conversation before Week 11 about whether a withdrawal, pass/fail, or other academic option is most appropriate.
    • Ultimately, having access to midterm grades helps students make a successful transition to UConn.  In high school, students have access to all student grades (homework, quizzes, exams) throughout the academic year.  Giving students this continuity in experience can help students transition academic standards and expectations of UConn successfully.

Please take the time to submit midterm grades for all students in 1000- and 2000-level courses as soon as possible (beginning Monday, February 23, 2026) but no later than the eighth week of the term (Friday, March 13, 2026, by 10:30 pm).

Thank you so much for your assistance in communicating to students about their academic performance in your course(s).

    2.    Grade Completion Status

The Registrar’s Office developed a visual aid to assist instructors with their Midterm and Final Grades submissions.  There are four new Grade Completion Status icons on the Faculty Center > My Schedule page that informs the instructor as to whether they have submitted grades and if they have set the Approval Status to Approved for Final Grades.

    • No grade roster exists: This indicates that either a Midterm or Final Grades roster has not been created for the class.  For a multi-component class, the lecture will always reflect this.
    • No Grades entered: This indicates that either a Midterm or Final Grades roster has been created for the class; however, no grades have been entered on the respective roster.
    • Some grades entered or roster not approved: This indicates that the instructor has either (a) entered some Midterm or Final Grades for the class, or (b) has entered all Final Grades for the class but has not set the Approval Status to Approved.
    • All grades entered and roster approved: This indicates that the instructor has entered all Midterm or Final Grades for the class and has set the Approval Status to Approved for Final Grades.
