Welcome to the Neuroinclusive Pedagogy Series for Spring 2026 – cosponsored by CETL and the UConn’s College of Engineering. This four-part series will explore ways in which educators can make our classes, labs, workshops, etc. more inclusive to folks of all neurotypes. Workshops are held virtually at noon on the last Monday of each month in the following schedule:

    1. January 26 - 12-1250pm - Neurodiversity and Neuroinclusivity 101

    1. February 23 - 12-1250pm - Strengths-Based Approaches

    1. March 30 - 12-1250pm - Universal Design for Learning

    1. April 27 - 12-1250 - Active Learning with Neuroinclusive Lens

Each 50-minute workshop is stand-alone; however, attendees of all four Series sessions will receive a certificate of completion from CETL recognizing their commitment to neuroinclusivity

All sessions are co-facilitated by Dr. Connie Syharat (UConn Engineering) and Dr. Andi Kent (CETL).

Session 1  Neuroinclusive Pedagogy Series Kickoff: Neurodiversity and Neuroinclusivity 101

This foundational workshop will lay the groundwork for the Neuroinclusive Pedagogy Series. We will begin by establishing definitions and descriptions of neurodiversity, what it means to be neurodivergent or neurotypical, and what a goal of being more neuroinclusive may mean. Participants will explore the strengths and challenges facing neurodivergent folks and the impacts that may be seen in a higher education environment. Participants will engage in a reflection activity analyzing our physical spaces of learning, the challenges these may present, and steps to make our environments more inclusive to those of varying neurotypes.
