Scholarly Colloquia and Events

  • 1/21 Interleaf: Scholarly Writing Support Group

Interleaf (n): a page inserted between pages of a book, often blank or supplementary; a space of connection, reflection, and addition

First meeting of Spring Semester on January 21 to welcome new members, introduce our scholarship, and reflect collectively upon on challenges and opportunities of writing and publishing in academia in the new year.

Join us each week for Interleaf: A Scholarly Writing Group, meeting Wednesdays from 3:30-5:30 at Homer Babbidge Library 1102. This is a space for graduate students, postdocs, and all scholars engaged in writing and publishing to build community across disciplines, to set aside dedicated structured time to write, and to feel less isolated in the pursuit of a finished draft. Writing groups are a crucial connection point for collaborative resource, service, and expertise sharing across often siloed disciplines and perspectie.

Drop in for all or part(s) of the meeting as your capacity allows. You are welcome to stop in late or leave early.

Sign up for weekly invitations and follow-up resources to attend. (Or just drop in!)

    Meeting Structure:

    • 3:30-4:00: Introductions (to each other and scholarly work)

    • 4:00-5:00: Connection through writing (generative reflective writing exercises or peer review sign-up)

    • 5:00-5:30: Sustained writing (expressions of interest and affirmation of someone else's work across disciplines)
