    Learning Objectives:

    • Explain the physiological effects of heat on athletic performance and worker productivity.
    • Describe health risks associated with environmental heat exposure in diverse populations.
    • Describe physiological responses to heat stress and adaptation mechanisms.
    • Explain current heat safety standards in clinical, athletic, and occupational settings.
    • Identify opportunities for development and revision of heat safety standards.
    • Evaluate and recommend prevention strategies that improve heat tolerance and reduce injury/illness risk during physical activity and heat exposure.
