  • Electrolyte Hydration Study Participants Wanted

    The research aim is to explore how various fluid replacement beverages impact the body’s response during exercise in the heat. Additionally, for females we will explore how various fluid replacement beverages impact the body’s fluid retention during a 2-hour recovery following exercise in the heat. For males we will also assess the efficacy of a body cooling vest following exercise in the heat in males.

     

    Information from this study will contribute to improvements and advancements to health and fitness. 

     

    You may be eligible to participate if: 

     

    1. Are you willing to perform both running and cycling exercise in the heat? 

    1. Are you a physically active and between 18-45 years old? 

     

    For the study, you will be asked to meet research staff at the Mission Heat Lab in the Department of Kinesiology at Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, CT for 4 research trials that will last roughly 5-7 hours in length.  

     

    Upon completion of the study, you will receive compensation based on the number of trials completed. 

    Note: withdrawal from study may result in loss of eligibility for the incentives. 

     

    Please note that being eligible to participate does not guarantee your participation in this study. There is still a chance that you might not be enrolled in the study based on certain factors including not being able to demonstrate a certain level of fitness as measured by a VO2max assessment.
