  • AI Literacy Basics: A Self-Paced Course

"AI Literacy Basics" is an online, self-paced course designed by the UConn Library to equip learners with the knowledge and skills they need to use AI effectively, efficiently, and ethically in the college context. It is a self-enroll course available to faculty, students, and staff in HuskyCT on the "Institution Page".

There are five flexible modules, each taking about 20–30 minutes to complete:

    1. How does AI work? : the basics
    2. What should I consider before using AI? : ethics, academic integrity, and attribution
    3. What can AI do? : basic prompting and tool types
    4. How can I use AI to support my learning? : positive educational use cases
    5. How can I verify AI outputs? : hallucinations and mitigation strategies

Learners may complete the entire two-hour course or select individual modules. A short diagnostic pre-test helps direct learners to the most relevant starting point. Quizzes and digital badges provide opportunities for low-stakes assessment and recognition of completion.
