  • 10/10 Eric Reed: Solo Jazz Piano Concert

    Pianist Eric Reed, one of today’s leading jazz pianists, will appear in concert on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 8:00 PM in von der Mehden Recital Hall at the University of Connecticut. Presented as the annual Heilig Memorial Piano Concert, the program offers audiences a rare chance to experience Reed in an intimate solo setting, weaving personal stories into an evening of improvisation and reflection.

    Reed has been a vital figure on the international jazz scene for more than 25 years. He has collaborated with Betty Carter, Freddie Hubbard, Joe Henderson, Buster Williams, and Wynton Marsalis, and has released over two dozen albums as a leader, including his recent recordings Out Late and Black, Brown, and Blue. Now based in Los Angeles, he continues to perform, mentor, and pursue his artistic evolution.

    The following morning, Saturday, October 11, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Reed will present a free public Master Class featuring UConn jazz students in von der Mehden Recital Hall.
