Chenglin Hong, PhD, MSW, MPH, is an Assistant Professor in the School of Social Work at UConn. He received his PhD in Social Welfare from UCLA and MSW/MPH degrees from the University of Washington. Dr. Hong’s research is dedicated to addressing health disparities and inequities among sexual and gender minority. Trained as a social worker and community-based participatory researcher, he focuses on developing and testing interventions to improve sexual health and mental health outcomes for gay, bisexual, and other sexual minority men (SMM), with a strong emphasis on HIV/STI and intimate partner violence (IPV) prevention and mental health promotion. Dr. Hong has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles in prestigious journals such as the Journal of the International AIDS Society, Trauma, Violence, & Abuse, and AIDS and Behavior, and his research spans multiple regions in globally, including the U.S., China, Kenya, Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
