  • Introducing New Director of PRLACC

    Dear UConn Community,

We’re proud to announce the appointment of Alfred Guante, M.Ed. as the new Director of the Puerto Rican/Latin American Cultural Center (PRLACC).

Alfred is a UConn alumnus with over 20 years of dedicated service in higher education. As a student, Alfred was an active member of multiple communities, including PRLACC, the African American Cultural Center, and CAPS/Student Support Services. His professional journey has spanned community colleges, four-year universities, private institutions, non-profits, and professional schools. He brings a wealth of experience in student advising, admissions (undergraduate and graduate), career services, student activities, research, and college access.

Originally from New Haven, CT, and a first-generation college student, Alfred’s passion lies in bridging equity gaps and enhancing opportunities for underserved populations. His commitment to student success is grounded in both personal experience and professional expertise.

Alfred earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Connecticut and Master of Education in Higher Education Administration from Northeastern University. Outside of work, he enjoys woodworking and cherishes time with his wife and three children.

Alfred will start his position on Friday, July 25.

Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Alfred as he steps into this important leadership role. We are excited about the future of PRLACC under his guidance and look forward to the continued celebration and empowerment of our students at UConn.

    Sincerely,
