  • Donate to Health-related Causes Through CSEC

    The Connecticut State Employees Campaign includes many charities that provide health care services, support health promotion, or conduct research to help prevent and treat specific diseases.

    The top 20 charities to which UConn employees contributed last year included the following health-related causes: American Cancer Society (3002), AmeriCares (8207), American Heart Association (3004), American Red Cross (4650), St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (3066), and Planned Parenthood of Southern New England (3079). And there are nearly 200 health-related causes on the list of CSEC charities, including Hospice Foundation of America, Doctors Without Borders, Shriners Hospitals for Children, Visiting Nurse & Health Services of Connecticut, and charities specific to Alzheimer’s, Arthritis, Autism, Cancer, Diabetes, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s, Sickle Cell Disease, and more.

    You can find these and other charities listed in the CSEC directory online. To find a specific charity of your choice in the online directory, open the pdf, hit the ctrl key and ‘F’ on your keyboard, type the charity you are searching for in the search box, click the down arrow next to your search, and select “Find or Open.”

    Please send your completed pledge form to Paula Enderle, UConn-Storrs Coordinator of the 2014 Connecticut State Employees’ Campaign, at U-5075, or by fax to 860-486-0379. You can also scan it and send via email to csec@uconn.edu.

    Together, we can make a difference. Please give generously.

    All faculty and staff who submit a signed pledge form will be entered into a drawing. In this week’s drawing:

    • A cornucopia centerpiece for Thanksgiving from UConn Blooms;
    • $25 gift certificate to Chuck & Augie’s restaurant.

    The drawing will be closed on Nov. 19, and winners will be notified directly.

    The winners of the drawing announced on Oct. 22 were:

    • Akiko Nishiyama and Cathleen Paquette, Co-op cards;
    • Margaret Tartsinis, Red Rock gift card.

    During the month of November, BJ’s Wholesale Club is offering a promotion to state employees that will benefit the State Employees Charitable Campaign: Anyone signing up through this program receives three extra months’ membership at a discount – a total of 15 months’ membership for $40. That is $10 off the regular membership fee, and the CSEC campaign receives $5 for each person signing up under this program. Those who will be renewing their BJ’s membership between now and February 2015 should renew during November to be eligible for this promotion. To sign up, go to the statewide CSEC website and fill out the BJ’s application under Quick Links.
