As UConn works to include one official set of learning objectives for each course into the university catalog, are you looking to write those for your one-section course or with your colleagues for a multi-section course?
To support your program’s or Common Curriculum’s assessment work, do you need an assignment aligned to your program’s learning objectives or the Common Curriculum objectives?
Are you interested in creating some consistency across sections of a course while still maintaining the flexibility for different sections?
Do you want to create (or modify) a rubric for your course?
Do you want to incorporate scholarly teaching into your course? Or present your teaching successes to others?
If you answered “yes” to any of these, submit an application for the UASCEND pilot for faculty teaching undergraduate courses. Throughout the semester, participants will complete an online professional development curriculum focused on the topics mentioned above. Faculty participants will be provided with a mini-grant award upon completion of the professional development curriculum – for single section courses, the faculty member will receive $1000; faculty members collaborating on consistency across multiple section courses will share $2500. Funds will be paid to the faculty’s research account.
Any in-residence, tenure-track, or tenured faculty member who is interested in gaining skills in the above topics should apply! Faculty must have a course that is part of an undergraduate degree-conferring academic program. The course can also be part of the Common Curriculum.
To apply, please complete the following application form by April 28, 2025.
