Research, Funding, and Awards

  • Participants 14-21 Using Alcohol or Substances

We at UConn Health, (Farmington, CT campus) are hoping to collaborate with anyone who can help us spread the word of our program to outreach to youthful (ages 14-21) individuals who may benefit from our free, highly effective research treatment for alcohol and/or substance use, such as marijuana use.

They can range from using a little bit or a lot.

    -------------------

    You may be eligible if:

    - You are 14-21 years old

    - You might have a need for alcohol and/or drug use treatment, and

    - Are not currently receiving treatment for alcohol/drug concerns only. Mental Health therapy is fine.

    - Able to attend the following appointments:

    - 8 free weekly CBT-MET group therapy

    - 2 free individual sessions

    - research intake and follow ups (compensation up to $250)

There is no medication involved in this study, just counseling (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET)), all conducted in person at our Farmington campus with extremely experienced clinicians and research staff.

    What is involved?

Study eligibility will be decided through a 15-minute telephone screener.

    · Eligible participants will complete an Intake Assessment in-person followed by the 10 weeks of therapy.

    · Participants will complete questionnaires at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months following the onset of treatment.
