Effects of Task Complexity and Foreign Language Anxiety on Chinese as a Foreign Language Learners’ Speech Production
This research study aims to explore how task complexity and foreign language anxiety impact Chinese foreign language learners’ speech production. Participants will complete two speaking tasks, an anxiety survey, and a proficiency test. The total study time is 40 minutes, and the research session will be conducted in a single visit.
Learners who have completed at least one year of Chinese study at UConn or three years of Chinese study at high school are eligible for this study. However, heritage learners are not eligible for this study.
Participants will gain experience performing language tasks, receive feedback on their proficiency, and may benefit from an increased understanding of their language skills.
Participants who complete all study tasks will receive a $20 Amazon gift card as a token of appreciation.
