The updates to the InfoEd IRB Module are now live. The updated system will help streamline IRB submission and review processes.
Here’s some important things to know:
1. As you work with the system, please provide us feedback and alert us to anything that doesn’t appear to be working as intended so that we can address it. While we hope that everything will go smoothly, there are surprises and snafus with every implementation and your timely feedback will be critical. If you experience technical issues, please email Research IT at era-support@uconn.edu, if you have process or review questions, please contact the IRB office (IRB@UConn.edu).
If you have not done so already, please consider attending a training session. Additional training session dates will be added in the coming days.
2. User Guides are available on the Research IT Human Subjects Module webpage. A Net ID is required to access the manuals per our contractual arrangement with InfoEd.
3. A Study Migration Guide is also on the same webpage. The Study Migration Guide provides information about what studies need to be migrated to the new application form, the timing of migration, and how to do so.
4. The IRB Submissions, Forms & Templates webpage has been updated to include new and revised supplemental materials for IRB applications. Please visit this page prior to developing a submission to the IRB to ensure that you are using the current document versions.
5. The IRB Reliance webpages (IRB Reliance – General, IRB Reliance - BRANY IRB) have been updated to reflect changes in Reliance processes related to the system updates. Please visit these pages to ensure that you are following the updated processes before initiating a reliance request. Please pay attention to future announcements for additional changes that will be announced in the coming weeks.
6. As noted in prior communications, only one amendment can be in process at any given time. If you try to create an amendment and there is an active amendment, you will receive a message stating that “There is already an active Amendment submission on this record. Another cannot be created.” In this instance, you should check the study record to see (1) if you are awaiting an IRB determination on a current amendment, or (2) if there is an “abandoned” amendment that needs to be withdrawn or deleted.
Locate the record in the system by searching via the number, title, etc. (you can use the Quick Find in the top right corner) or if you are the PI, you can use Locate My Records on the top bar of the Home page.
