    Presenter: Luiza Printes dos Santos

This workshop will offer a comprehensive overview of how students are currently engaging with social media platforms for educational outcomes, exploring the potential and challenges of social media applications for active learning and creativity. Participants will be presented with data and insights on student’s engagement with image-based applications such as YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram, exploring the impact these platforms present in academic settings.

The session will showcase assignment ideas that capitalize on the strengths of social media applications, such as creating reflective video diaries, designing research-guided multimedia posts, or curating thematic collections of resources. Attendees will leave with a practical understanding to analyze and incorporate aspects of social media applications that align with course objectives, supporting student engagement in ways that are relevant, accessible, and impactful.
