  • Connecting Career Readiness with Common Curriculum

Are you an instructor of a Common Curriculum course? We want to hear from you!

UConn's Common Curriculum plays a vital role in shaping students' educational experiences and preparing them for their future careers. Common Curriculum has a deep tie to career skill development that yearns to be in the spotlight as transparent and intentional learning outcomes. These competencies—such as critical thinking, teamwork, and communication—are essential skills that employers highly value. As an instructor of a Common Curriculum course, we recognize that you are already teaching these skills in your classes.

The Center for Career Readiness and Life Skills would like to support these efforts by transparently drawing intentional connections from the curriculum to these career competencies which will aid students in Becoming Career Ready within Common Curriculum course. Through this alignment, students can be empowered to excel academically and thrive in their future careers.  We invite you to a collaborative conversation to understand how we can further enhance career readiness within Common Curriculum courses by highlighting and infusing the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) eight career competencies with the curriculum.

The collaborative conversations will occur virtually the week of December 9th.  If you are interested in being part of a 45-minute conversation, please use this link to sign up for a timeslot. If these times do not work with your schedule, please e-mail Kaitlyn Anderson (Kaitlyn.anderson@uconn.edu) to set up a time that works best for you.
