ITL Teaching Scholar Awards – Call for Nominations
The Institute for Teaching & Learning (ITL) is soliciting nominations from faculty and academic administrators for the 2015-2016 ITL Teaching Scholars. The nominees for this award are limited to full-time non-tenure-track faculty with 5-years continuous service to the University.
It is intended that up to two such Teaching Scholars will be honored and each awarded a stipend of $2,000. The funds are to be used at the recipients' discretion with the single restriction that they be used in support of their instructional programs.
The ITL Teaching Scholars will be presented at the Instructional Excellence Recognition Dinner to be held on April 22, 2015. ITL Teaching Scholars engage in a number of teaching and learning activities including participation in workshops developed by the Institute for Teaching & Learning, allowing teaching assistants to visit their classrooms, and serving as mentors for colleagues in their discipline or cognate areas.
The structured nomination form captures the essence of the faculty member’s scholarship with respect to teaching and is formed to allow the essentials of the nomination to be gathered in a minimum of space.
It is suggested that the nominator prepare a cover sheet outlining the case in broad terms while adding particulars in the format of the nomination form. Some of the sections ask for the candidate's details and it is expected that the candidate will provide those to the nominator.
The form is a word document so you may type within the form and may be downloaded at http://itl.uconn.edu/itl-teaching-scholar-awards/.
Once complete please convert the nomination form and all supporting documents to PDF before emailing to stacey.valliere@uconn.edu.
Nominations must be received by December 19, 2014.
