UConn Voice and Opera presents their 2014 fall Songfest: Songs by Living Composers on Sunday, October 26th at 5:00pm at the William Benton Museum of Art on the University of Connecticut Storrs campus.
You won’t want to miss this exciting opportunity to hear works written by some of the great composers of our time. From the cabaret songs of William Bolcom to the songs of UConn’s own Dr. Kenneth Fuchs, this eclectic program will not disappoint. Other artists will include French composer, Isabelle Aboulker, West Hartford native, Gregg Kallor, and many more. The concert features both graduate and undergraduate students from the voice and opera program. We are excited to be able to share this wonderful music with our audience, many of whom will be hearing it for the first time.
Once again, we are privileged to perform in the East Gallery of the Benton Museum of Art. This beautiful space is not only acoustically pleasing for listeners and singers alike, but features rotating visual art exhibitions that the audience can peruse before and after the performance, as well as during intermission. On display will be CHEM 101: The Science of Photography, highlighting experimental works by contemporary photographers that are “visually striking and stunningly scientific.” There will also be refreshments available for no cost.
Songfest: Songs by Living Composers will run for only one performance at the William Benton Museum of Art on Sunday, October 26th at 5:00pm. Tickets are $12 for general admission, $10 for Benton members, and $5 for students. Tickets can be purchased at the front desk of the Benton Museum of Art, located at 245 Glenbrook Rd, Storrs, CT 06269, or by calling the Benton at (860) 486-4520. We hope to see you there!
