On Hallowe’en join the 9:30am upper-level Irish Literature class in AUST 102 for an open discussion of J.S. Le Fanu’s Victorian Irish Gothic classic, “The Child that Went with the Fairies” (LINK: https://www.online-literature.com/lefanu/1772/) and Elizabeth Bowen’s “The Demon Lover” (LINK: https://awrn.uncg.edu/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/7.-Bowen-The-Demon-Lover.pdf) & a chance to tell your OWN ghost story! These very short but very spooky stories will be read aloud to the class to approximate the Irish tradition of ghost tales around the fire, so no advance reading required. Contact host Prof. Mary Burke regarding admittance & accommodation. Costumes encouraged!
