  • September 17 Is National Voter Registration Day

    The Office of Outreach and Engagement aims to prepare educated, engaged citizens and strengthen democratic values and civic responsibility. Therefore, we ask instructors to use the classroom to encourage non-partisan voting engagement. 

    Give students 3 minutes in class to check their voting registration status. The first slide in this PowerPoint includes a link where students from any state can check their voter registration status. They do not have to disclose if they are registered or not.   

    Invite all students to:  

    • Register to vote. Students can register on September 17 (National Voter Registration Day) at Gampel Pavilion between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm. See slide number 2 for more information. 

    • Request an absentee ballot. 

    • Learn about all candidates, including local candidates. 

    • Set up reminders in their calendars. 

    • Spread the word with family and friends. 

    • Volunteer. 

    • Vote.
